The right size deer blind comes down to how many hunters share it, whether you shoot a gun or a bow, and how much gear and elbow room you want. Here is a plain-English breakdown of the 4x6, 5x6 octagon, and 5x8.
Most hunters overthink this. There are really three questions that decide which insulated fiberglass blind fits you: how many people sit in it, do you shoot a gun, a bow, or both, and how much room do you want for kids, gear, and moving around quietly. Get those three right and the size picks itself.
Every VisionX blind ships complete — carpet, a shelf with cup holders, a rifle rest, and an integrated shooting rest are all standard, with no add-on charges. So you are choosing space and capacity, not a feature checklist. The lineup runs from a two-hunter 4x6 up to a four-hunter 5x8, and you can see all of them on the blinds page.

The 4x6 is the compact, budget-friendly choice for one or two hunters. The rectangular footprint is easy to place on a smaller stand or set right on the ground, and at roughly 200–220 lb it's the lightest blind to move and lift. Interior is 71 3/8" x 47 3/4" x 79" tall — plenty of headroom, snug on floor space when two adults bring gear.
It's offered as a Side Entry ($2,695 MSRP) or as a Combo with an added bow door ($2,915 MSRP) so you can hunt rifle and archery from the same blind. Pair it with the matching 4x4 tower if you want elevation.
If you're not sure, get the 5x6 octagon. It's our best seller for a reason: the octagon shape gives you wide shooting angles in every direction, comfortable room for two adults (rated for three hunters), and enough space for a kid to sit alongside a parent. At 74" x 60" x 79" and about 250–260 lb, it's the sweet spot between the tight 4x6 and the big 5x8.
It's the size that handles deer season, the occasional guest, and a thermos and backpack without feeling cramped. A Combo / bow version is available so gun and bow hunters can share one blind. MSRP is $3,135 (standard) or $3,630 (Combo). It drops onto a 5x6 tower in 5', 10', or 15' heights.
The 5x8 is the largest in the lineup, rated for up to four hunters. The longer 96" x 60" floor gives you genuine room for the whole family, a guide working with clients, or a hunter who likes to spread out cameras, heaters, and gear. It runs about 260–270 lb and sets on a 5x8 tower offered in 5' and 10' heights.
At $3,520 MSRP it's the most blind for the money when capacity matters more than portability. If you'll often have three or four people in the box, skip straight to this one rather than crowding a 5x6.
| Model | Hunters | Interior (W x D x H) | Weight | Best for | MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4x6 Rectangle | 2 | 71 3/8" x 47 3/4" x 79" | 200–220 lb | Solo / pairs, lightest, lowest cost | $2,695+ |
| 5x6 Octagon | 3 | 74" x 60" x 79" | 250–260 lb | The popular all-rounder | $3,135+ |
| 5x8 Octagon | 4 | 96" x 60" x 79" | 260–270 lb | Family / guide / max gear | $3,520 |
"+" denotes the Combo (bow door) version is available at a higher MSRP. All three are insulated fiberglass with a foam core and a Kay-Cel composite floor that won't rot — the size you pick doesn't change the build quality.
Any size works as-is. The tinted sliding windows and integrated shooting rest are set up for steady gun shots out of the box.
Go with a Combo. The added bow door gives you a clean, quiet draw-and-release without fighting a window opening.
The Combo is the move — one blind covers archery season and rifle season so you don't buy two.
Size up. A 5x6 or 5x8 lets an adult sit beside a young hunter and coach the shot comfortably.
